Zachary, 17, leaves prison. Rejected by his mother, he hangs out in Marseille’s blue collar neighborhoods. That’s where he meets Sheherazade…With virtuosity, Jean-Bernard Marlin brings us a contemporary coming of age love story without pathos or moralizing all while avoiding the trap of the pseudorealist documentary. A first film, shot with non professional actors, which is hot and wild like the thousand and one nights of Marseille. Jean-Bernard MarlinIN THE PRESENCE OF

After receiving his diploma from the Louis Lumière cinema school and completing a Screenplay Workshop with the Fémis school, he directed Thick-Skinned in 2007, a short that was selected and received awards in numerous international film festivals (Best short at the San Francisco Film festival). Quelque chose de féroce (Something Fierce) in 2012, is a documentary about a juvenile delinquent, then, he directed The Runaway in 2013, which received the Golden Bear for best short film at the 2013 Berlinale and was nominated for the 2014 Cesars.
